It takes no effort to see your demons, Bloodstains on the sands, Could count on both hands. Take a look at those scars, Take a look at your heart, And what do you see, Are reflections of me, You stood on that stage, The world gave you praise, Cause we looked up to you and your power. How could we guess you were so low, When the clown cries who is laughing now? Are we moving backwards? Should be more forgiving, Everyone acts differently, Now we know what’s missing. Take a look at those scars, Take a look at your heart, And what do you see, Are reflections of me, You stood on that stage, The world gave you praise, Cause we looked up to you and your power. How could we guess you were so low, When the clown cries who is laughing now? See how your sadness does not care how they are scared by your makeup.

I take you to the ship and watch you board, At last, our lives are better now. After the fate of my ancestral home, The new world will await us. And though I'm sad you're leaving, I know it won't be long, Until a ship unites us both, For now I'll be alone. I watch you hide emotions behind smiles, Your eyes they can't deceive me. To have a future we must separate, Our land is disappearing. And though I'm sad I'm leaving, I know it won't be long, Until the ship unites us both, For now I'll be alone. We stare as oceans carry their debris, We come to mistrust our own memory. And though we're said we're leaving, We know it won't be long, Until a ship unites us both, For now we'll be alone. For now we'll be alone. For now we'll be alone.

"When The Clown Cries" is the lead single off Jason Priest's upcoming full-length debut, Jason Priest Is Missing, due out Summer 2021 on digital and vinyl! Expect an album of self-described post-goth-punk-wave-synthpop, inspired by equal parts The Cure, New Order, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails.

The single is full of energy and catchy as hell, with a chorus that you won't be able to stop singing. It's the perfect introduction to a record that will no doubt end the year on many top 10 lists.

On the B side, Priest dials it down a notch with the stripped-back "Departure," an incredible duet with none other than Mecha Maiko. The track sees Priest exploring new territory and showing his softer side - all against the backdrop of a very Phil Collins-inspired drum pattern.

Who is Jason Priest? He's the post-punk/synthpop alter ego of Antoni Maiovvi, an artist with immeasurable talent and almost as many creative aliases as he has releases under his studded leather belt. Maybe you know him as the co-founder of Giallo Disco Records, or for his previous work on Death Waltz Originals, or as the creative force behind a long list of horror soundtracks, both real and imagined. Now is your chance to know him as Jason Priest, the British punk rocker who heads to New York City in 1982 on the heels of a brand new record deal, only to spend the better part of the decade strung out on amphetamines and drowning in alcohol. Now, Jason is back in London with renewed energy from both the change of scenery and, more importantly, a newfound sobriety…
